Gardens and the Globe

So today the majority of the morning was spent in class where we got quite a bit of homework dumped on us. I think some people just realized that we are actually going to have to a lot of school work while we are here as well as seeing the sights in London. After class I went on a walk with some friends for an assignment through a nearby park called Holland Park. It was a very beautiful park in a very nice part of London. The roads on the way there were full of adorable houses and flats which according to our reading are also very expensive because of their location and cuteness. Inside the actually park there were lots of flowers and other things but one of my favorite parts was the Japanese peace garden there. It was beautiful and very peaceful. It was one of those moments for me and my friend when you enter a place and you automatically feel the need to whisper out of respect without really realizing it. We got a little lost in the park on our way back but we made it back to the London Centre just in time for dinner. We had an interesting main dish for dinner today that included: pasta, artichoke hearts, sausages, green olives, sundried tomatoes and some sort of sweet-like dressing. I didn't necessarily enjoy it but I did try all of it. After this we got on the tube to go to the Globe Theater for the viewing of the tempest. The tube got really crowded on the way there and it got so crowded at one stop that there was no more even standing room for the poor business man at the back of the crowd to get on the train. I was just happy that when we got to our stop we were near the doors that opened and we didn't have to dive through all the people to get out. Going to the Globe Theater was an amazing experience though. It almost felt surreal like I wasn't quite sure if I was really there and I was continually reminded of the Doctor Who episode that takes place partially in the Globe theater. Also the actor who played Rory in Doctor Who was on an advertisement for another play and the actor who played Merlin in the other BBC show called Merlin portrayed the character Ariel in this rendition of the Tempest. I greatly enjoyed watching this production at the Globe Theater and the actors and actresses made the whole story quite enjoyable. Now we are back and I have to get to bed because we have an early day tomorrow heading off to see Dover and Hever Castle. TTFN!
